Update, August 19, 2026: Tesla’s owner-support page still treats Powershare with Powerwall as not generally live for that combo. Tesla Powershare support says Powershare is not currently available for home energy systems that include Powerwall, with an OTA “soon.” A later Tesery note on Texas vehicle-to-grid on Cybertruck is a different, limited V2G program — not the mid-2026 Powerwall email by itself.
In mid-December 2025 Tesla emailed Cybertruck owners that Powershare with Powerwall was still in development and was scheduled for mid-2026. Owner forums and EVHype quoted the letter: “We’re writing to let you know that the Powershare with Powerwall feature is still in development and is now scheduled for release in mid-2026.” Foundation Series buyers had been told bidirectional home backup would arrive earlier (late 2024 / 2025 slips). This email is a date move, not a new hardware kit.
Key facts
- What slipped: Cybertruck Powershare talking to a Tesla Powerwall home battery.
- New window Tesla named: mid-2026, via owner email ~Dec. 11–12, 2025.
- What already existed: Some Powershare outlet/vehicle-to-load paths on later Cybertruck software (Tesla support lists Mobile Connector / outlet adapter on 2025.14.3+). Home + Powerwall is the missing piece.
- What this is not: A recall, or Tesla canceling Powershare hardware already in the truck.
Powershare vs Powerwall vs V2G
Powershare is Tesla’s bidirectional-charging brand. Vehicle-to-load (run a jobsite or a fridge) is not the same as vehicle-to-home through a Powerwall gateway, and not the same as selling power back to ERCOT. Read Tesla’s own support page for the current limits. Forum threads on Cybertruck Owners Club and Reddit logged the same mid-2026 sentence the week of the email.
FAQ
Can a Cybertruck already back up a Powerwall house?
Tesla’s December 2025 letter said that pairing was still in development. Check the support page for your software before you assume it works.
Did Tesla take Powershare out of the truck?
No. The email delayed the Powerwall software path.
Is the Texas V2G pilot this feature?
No. Grid-export pilots are a different program and a different Tesery story.
For Cybertruck owners: if you bought wall hardware for Powershare + Powerwall, keep the Tesla email. Mid-2026 is a schedule, not a guarantee the pairing ships that quarter.
