Update, August 19, 2026: Early-December 2025 snow clips are owner videos on FSD (Supervised) v14.2.1, not a Tesla winter-validation report. Some runs look smooth; at least one public test (Dirty Tesla) still shows a curb strike. Cameras plus snow remain a known limit. Later firmware (v14.2.2) is a different build.
In the first days of December 2025, owners posted FSD (Supervised) snow drives as v14.2.1 spread. Sawyer Merritt put a Model Y in a storm and titled the YouTube “FSD V14.2.1 Drives Itself in Snow.” Dillon Loomis posted an Ontario clip. Dirty Tesla ran unplowed roads and also showed a miss. Tesla did not issue a “FSD is certified for blizzard” note. These are owner logs. They do not repeal the on-screen weather-degraded warning, and they are not unsupervised Robotaxi.

Key facts
- What circulated: Owner dashcams of v14.2.1 in snow, early December 2025.
- What Tesla sold: Still Full Self-Driving (Supervised). You stay the driver.
- What one public test also showed: Dirty Tesla’s unplowed-road video includes an FSD fail over a curb — useful counter-clip to “flawless.”
- What this is not: A Tesla safety study, or proof FSD can ignore packed ice and blocked cameras.
Snow data vs a winter spec
More owners leaving FSD on in snow gives Tesla more camera miles. That is useful engineering. It is not a winter type-approval. Holiday-week software around then is Tesery’s v14.2.1.25 / 2025.44.25.5 note. Keep hands ready when the hood is white.
FAQ
Did Tesla say FSD is better than a human in snow?
Not in a winter-safety paper that week. The confident language was owners’ and recap blogs’.
Should I use FSD on an unplowed road?
Tesla still tells you performance can degrade when cameras are dirty or the road is unmarked. You are Supervised.
Is this Robotaxi?
No. Austin Robotaxi is a different stack.
For owners: a YouTube “mind blown” title is not your winter driving plan. If you cannot see lane lines, assume the car cannot either.
