On December 30, 2025 Tesla’s official account posted a year-end clip titled “Tesla 2025 recap,” captioned “See y’all in 2026 – the best is yet to come.” The X post is the primary source. The video mixed Model Y volume, FSD v14, Robotaxi in Austin and the Bay Area, energy, and a line that Cybercab production had started.
That last frame is the news. It is not the same as “Cybercab is now a customer product,” and it is not the same as thousands of two-seaters leaving Giga Texas every week. A recap can show a car on a line. Volume, VINs, and a start-of-production memo are different documents.

What the rest of the recap actually showed
The montage is a highlight reel: Model Y as Tesla’s volume car, refreshed S/X and Juniper Y, Model Y L in China-first markets, cheaper Standard trims, FSD v14, and limited Robotaxi in Austin and the Bay Area. Those are 2025 themes Tesla already talked about all year. They do not need a second victory-lap essay. Treat them as context for why the Cybercab line is in the same clip — Tesla wants 2026 to look like autonomy year, not another Model Y year.
Robotaxi in Austin in late 2025 was still a small Model Y fleet with monitors, then a later unsupervised slice. Tesery’s ~20-car Austin count is the scale check. Do not read a recap drone shot as a citywide empty-taxi network.
Production vs “production started”
Car companies use “production” for build-validation cars, low-rate line trials, and volume SOP. The recap does not publish a weekly rate. Musk’s April 2026 comment is the volume date investors already had. A December video that says production has started can mean the line is alive. It cannot, by itself, mean April came early.
Later test cars and showroom metal — Tesery’s production-intent test note — sit between a We, Robot prototype and a sold fleet. Keep those rungs separate.
